Description
purefil PLA-R Recycled Filament – Eco-Friendly & Easy to Print
The purefil PLA-R (Recycled) Filament is made from 100% recycled material, making it an environmentally friendly choice for sustainable 3D printing. Additionally, recycled spools are used, meaning previously used spools are refilled with new material. As a result, the spool may differ from the product images.
Why Choose purefil PLA-R?
- Eco-friendly – made entirely from recycled materials
- Swiss quality – manufactured for reliable performance
- Easy to print – ideal for beginners and professionals alike
What is PLA?
PLA (Polylactic Acid) is a biodegradable polymer derived from renewable sources like corn starch or sugarcane. It is known for its low warping, minimal shrinkage, and ease of printing, making it a popular choice for both functional and decorative 3D prints.
Although a heated bed is not required, using one can improve adhesion. For optimal results, we recommend enabling cooling fans while printing. Compared to other plastics, PLA emits significantly less odor, making it a more comfortable choice for indoor printing.
Important Considerations
PLA has a relatively low heat resistance and may soften or deform at high temperatures, such as during hot summer months. While industrially compostable, it does not naturally degrade in home or outdoor environments. Due to added pigments and stabilizers, PLA prints should always be disposed of in regular waste, not compost bins or gardens.
Key Properties of PLA-R Filament
- Minimal shrinkage for high dimensional accuracy
- Low warping, reducing print failures
- Low moisture absorption, making storage easier
- Soluble in many organic solvents
- High UV resistance to prevent discoloration
- Low flammability for enhanced safety
- Heat-resistant up to ~60°C, suitable for various applications
Sustainability & Responsible Disposal
While PLA is a more sustainable alternative to petroleum-based plastics, it requires industrial composting conditions to break down efficiently. In nature, PLA does not degrade easily. For eco-conscious disposal, please recycle or discard PLA prints responsibly through standard waste channels.
